Description
L-Glutamine is the most abundant free amino acid in human plasma and muscle cells. It is a semi-essential amino acid, which means that the body produces glutamine itself (mainly in the muscle, liver, adipose tissue and brain), but in certain circumstances (significant physical effort, recovery) the exogenous supply of glutamine can be beneficial. L-glutamine is also present in foods such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk, legumes, etc.
Glutamine has numerous functions in the body: protein synthesis, muscle building, glycogen synthesis, immune function, intestinal barrier function, acid-base balance, ...
Amino acids, such as glutamine, are the building blocks of proteins and contribute to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass. Glutamine supplies the muscles with nitrogen, among other things, and thus contributes to maintaining nitrogen balance. This is beneficial for reducing muscle breakdown, promoting muscle recovery and protein synthesis.
Athletes, especially endurance athletes or those who do very intense exercise, place high demands on their bodies. It is known that prolonged and very intense exercise is associated with a decrease in intramuscular and plasma concentrations of glutamine, which would be detrimental to immune function. Studies show, for example, that glutamine supplementation would reduce the incidence of diseases in endurance athletes.
Etixx L-Glutamine drink is a high-quality Glutamine powder with a neutral flavour, without added sugars or fats.
Who can benefit from Etixx L-Glutamine?
L-Glutamine is often used by athletes who do bodybuilding, strength training, athletics or other intense sports. These are athletes in disciplines where muscle breakdown and muscle damage are more frequent and/or who aim to build muscle more frequently compared to other athletes. In addition, endurance athletes can also use glutamine, mainly because it is important for immune function and intestinal barrier function (see leaky gut).
