In a time trial or on the bike leg of a long-distance triathlon, there's one detail almost nobody trains that, added up over the hours, makes a real difference: how you drink. Not how much you drink —that too—, but the physical movement of bringing the bottle to your mouth.
Think about it. Every time you let go of the aerobar, sit up and reach for the frame bottle, three things happen at once: you break your aerodynamic position, you expose your torso to the wind and you stop pushing efficiently just when you were flying. It's a micro-pause of a couple of seconds that, repeated dozens of times over 90 or 180 km, stops being trivial. Hydration over long distances isn't a logistical detail: it's part of your aerodynamics.
When you ride in the aero position, most of the drag slowing you down isn't generated by the bike, but by your own body. The rider's front (head, shoulders, torso and arms) is by far the largest surface the air meets head-on. That's why pro teams invest so much in closing and narrowing that position down to the last centimetre.
And here's the trap with classic hydration: the moment you drink is exactly the moment you undo all that work. You sit up to reach the bottle on the down tube, your torso opens up like a sail and, for those seconds, your drag coefficient shoots up. You don't just lose momentum: you lose the position you work so hard to hold.
The practical consequence is perverse: so as not to slow down, many riders end up drinking less than they should. And dehydration, over long distances, is one of the biggest performance killers there is —before thirst even appears, you've already lost watts.
If you look at a high-end time trial bike or an elite triathlete's bike, you'll almost always see the same thing between the arms: a front bottle system, mounted between the aerobars, with a straw at mouth height. The concept is both simple and brilliant: instead of you going for the water, the water is where your head already is.
The advantages are several and they add up:
Our Bottle Holder Kit brings that racing idea to your aerobars, with the CarboXtrem philosophy: carbon fibre, made-to-measure manufacturing and attention to detail. It isn't a generic plastic mount held on with zip ties: it's a part designed to integrate with your aero cockpit and, along the way, improve your support.
The tubes and main structure of the kit are made of carbon fibre, which provides lightness and stiffness: the assembly holds the bottle without swaying or annoying vibration, even on rough surfaces, and adds very little weight to the front of the bike.
This is one of the things that sets this kit apart. The padded rests you put your elbows on aren't just any foam: they're made of 3D-printed EPU 41 resin, the same type of elastomer we use in our lattice structures. Why does it matter? Because that material absorbs vibration and spreads pressure on the forearm, exactly where fatigue builds up most when you've spent hours in the aero position. You hydrate and, in the same act of resting, you gain comfort.
The kit allows full customisation: you can adjust the arm length and the tilt angle to adapt it to your biomechanics and the geometry of your aerobars. You don't force yourself into a posture: we tune it to yours.
It's designed to integrate with all CarboXtrem aerobar models —time trial and triathlon, and adaptable to different road bikes— and it comes with a Bontrager bottle, ready to mount and ride. A product backed by Carbon3D materials technology.

Having the right system is half the job; the other half is using it well. Some guidelines coaches recommend for the bike leg:
It's the natural addition for riders who already use aerobars and take long distance seriously: middle- and long-distance triathletes who spend hours on the bike, road time triallists who want to hold their position without sacrificing hydration, and any ultra-distance or gran fondo rider looking to drink steadily without slowing down. If you've already invested in a good aero position, it makes no sense to destroy it every time you're thirsty.
Because it lets you drink without leaving the aerodynamic position. When you reach for the frame bottle you sit up and open your torso to the wind, losing aerodynamics and momentum. With the front bottle between the aerobars you drink from the straw without moving, and that makes you hydrate more and more steadily.
The structure and tubes are carbon fibre. The elbow pads are made of 3D-printed EPU 41 resin, which absorbs vibration and adds forearm comfort.
All CarboXtrem aerobar models, time trial and triathlon, and it's adaptable to road bikes. It also adjusts in arm length and tilt angle.
Yes, it comes with a Bontrager bottle.
Hydration shouldn't cost you your position. With the CarboXtrem Bottle Holder Kit you drink without leaving your aero posture, hydrate steadily and, along the way, rest your elbows on pads that absorb vibration. Aerodynamics and comfort in the same movement.
